Arshavin: "Wenger wished us luck" after Fulham match

Arshavin blames injury woe on Arsenal's medical staff
Andrey might not travel with the team to Ewood Park on Monday, and he is unhappy concerning the prospect of being omitted by Arsene Wenger due to his nagging calf injury.

Transfer tidbits [Muslera, Gallas, Arshavin, Subotic]
Arsene Wenger is tired of Gallas' indicepherable attitude towards his contract extension, and has made it clear - he won't hesitate to buy (a new centre back) if the veteran French defender doesn't comply with terms at the club.
Wenger told the club's official website: "What is for sure if Gallas doesn't extend his contract we have to go out and strengthen this position," the manager said.
"For the rest we will see.
"There is a cut off point for Gallas. It doesn't depend only on me. Gallas can come and say "Boss we will stop the talks because I signed somewhere and that's it."
Wenger said he will give the player an ultimatum to decide his future: "I will set a deadline for us and that will certainly be before the end of May because we then have to look for someone else. We have more talks planned.
"I still have to access the Gallas and Campbell situation. Silvestre is still out of contract and the whole package has to be right - one goes, one stays. We have to get the number right.
"If Gallas and Campbell stay it will depend slightly on how well Djourou comes back about what we will do.
He looks good in training, quite positive," the 60-year-old maintained.
¤Fernando Muslera: The Uruguayan goal keeper has issued a statement denying contact with Arsenal, and other clubs who are interested in his services.
Muslera, is undoubtedly the holder of Lazio's team, the fans will indeed be pleased to hear their favourite won't be considering offers from Arsenal: "After three seasons I feel I'm here in Rome," he enthused.
"At first it was a difficult environment, but with the passage of time, and with the help of friends, things went well.
"My future? I want to stay at Lazio. I read interest of other teams, but my agent has not told me anything. Here in Rome, I am well, I want to stay here and achieve important goals with Lazio," Muslera declared.
¤Andrey Arshavin: Wenger admits he is pissed off concerning Arshavin's Barcelona rumours.
The Russian striker's words (if they have an iota of truth in them) didn't go down well with the fans.
But in typical Wenger fashion, the manager vented his anger on the translators of the speech: "I am very dissapointed because these statements contradict his behaviour here," Wenger said.
"He wants to renew his contract with us, it's very difficult to explain the noises coming from Russia. He looks to be very happy here.
"I think everybody has the freedom to speak but you want to make sure first of all that you respect your club. I just put a question mark on the things that come back translated."
Wenger warned the 29-year-old forward not to push his luck farther than he has already: "We do not of course accept that," he said.
"When you are at Arsenal you are at Arsenal. When you are somewhere else you are somewhere else.
I beleive that your pride means that first you defend your club," Wenger reiterated.
¤Neven Subotic: The 21-year-old's excellent performance for Borussia Dortmund this season has won him many admirers from Europe's elite clubs.
According to German newspaper Bild, the energetic centre back is sure to trigger a real auction in the coming months between Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.

Nasri: My partner made me close to Arshavin
The 22-year-old revealed that his friendship with fellow Gunner Andrey Arshavin, is growing stronger everyday because of their partners.
Arshavin's wife, Yulia is a close friend of Nasri's partner Tatiana Golovin, so the pair have taken advantage of the girls friendship to foster theirs.
Nasri told Russian newspaper Sport-Express that their partners met while they were struggling to adapt to life in London: "Tatiana and Yulia are together all the time," he enthused.
When Yulia came to London, it was difficult for her to speak English and Tatiana did all that she could to help. So when our partners want to come together, we have the chance to regularly see each other outside of the stadium.
Nasri spoke kindly of Andrey, he referred to the Russian striker as being kind, generous, quick and smart: "On the pitch Andrey is very technically gifted, quick and smart, and in everyday life he is very kind and generous," he continued.
"It great that we have so much in common, since we are ordinary guys, who don't tend to extravagance.
It's wonderful that fate brought us together in the same team," Samir Nasri concluded.

Agent: Arshavin will remain at Arsenal
The striker was quoted as saying: "Even playing just one season for Barcelona would make a pinnacle of my whole career."
Although, Dennis Lachter coyly refused to dispel the rumours - he made it clear that the forward hopes to remain at Arsenal for the rest of his career.
Lachter told Telegraph sport: "To be at the tail of the top teams in Europe is not what the manager, the players and the fans deserve," he added that it will take something "extraordinarily dramatic" for him not to end his career at Arsenal.

Arshavin: I've fully recovered and I'm ready to face City
The Russian International was substituted against Barcelona last month in the Champions League after picking up an injury [calf], although the team persevered without him at the Emirates - we failed to capitalise on our early lead at the Camp Nou and Messi punished us severely for our meekness in front of goal.
The Gunner told Arsenal.com that his rehabilitation is going to plan: "I am recovering and I hope to be back for Manchester City," he enthused.
Just like his team mate [Nasri], Arshavin also, blamed our title barreness on injuries and implored his team mates to secure their Champions League spot by winning their last three games: "This season has been tough and tight. Sometimes it was even difficult for myself and the team but in general it was not bad. Hopefully we will win the last three games," he asserted.
Arshavin refused to concede to the generality that the Arsenal has failed in totality, instead he concentrated on the positives of the season: "We have scored a lot of goals at the end of the games and we managed to stage comebacks. We have to use that spirit next season. We can fight again next season.
"It would be easier for us [if we had not had the injuries]. I can't say we would be Champions but it would have been easier for us," he concluded.

Transfer tidbits [Arshavin's agent, Zapata and Sagna]
his inability to stay injury free.
The 27-year-old injury-prone ex Zenit St. Petersburg striker is
struggling to adapt to his new environment the agent [Dennis Lachter]
told Sport.co.uk.
nobody can avoid injury," he declared.
"Let's see how he plays when he is fully recovered. It's his first
season as a 100 per cent 'whistle-to-whistle' Arsenal player; last
season he only played in the second half of the season and was a bit
more fresh. He had a marvellous match against Liverpool (scoring four
in the 4-4 draw at Anfield).
Lachter blamed his client's dip in form on circumstances beyond his
control, but he was quick to add that the Russian team captain will be
back to his fiery best soon: "This season is a totally different
situation. There have been a lot of matches; two cups, the (Premier
League) Championship, the Champions League and his performances with
the national team.
"It is too many matches and not a regular situation for a player from
Eastern Europe."
Rumours are rife in some quarters that the 27-year-old attacker might
be leaving the North London outfit this summer. This is what his agent
had to say concerning that: "This is the first time I am hearing about
this speculation," Lachter said.
"We have not spoken about this at all, he is an Arsenal player I
firmly believe he will be at Arsenal next season."
Meanwhile, the Gunners have being linked with Udinese's defender
Cristian Zapata. The 23-year-old Colombian is valued at €7m.
And finally, Spanish newspaper Sport said yesterday that Barcelona
have set their sights on Arsenal's right back Bacary Sagna who is
valued at £16m.

Arshavin says Arsenal need more players
Wenger to bring in new players to compliment their efforts and to
provide the necessary cover needed in case of injuries and other
unforeseen occurences.
The Russian believes Arsenal can't win trophies unless they concede to
pressure from fans to invest in players.
"There's the simple fact that last summer we sold two players and
bought only one. Then we lost Van Persie, Gibbs and Ramsey for a long
time. So for me it is natural we need new players."
Andrey revealed that our opponents have an edge over Arsene's
attacking options because of the ease at which we can be predicted:
"Without the variety of players we have less diversity in attack. That
allows our opponents to read our combinations more easily. Finally, it
results in less ball possession for us and our defence comes under
more pressure.
"The Premier League is very interesting, at least as long as we
continue fighting to win it. But without new experienced players, real
stars, it will be difficult to achieve success.
"Ideally we need three or four such experienced players and then among
our youths there should be guys who are not only good at playing
football but have real character."

Sol to possess his possession at the Stadium of the Dragon
Campbell if the need arises.
The 35-year-old former England international is yet to make a European
appearance since the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona almost
four years ago.
With majority of our regulars suffering from one injury or another.
Gallas - calf injury.
Alex Song - knee injury.
Andrey Arshavin - hamstring.
Eduardo - yet to fully recover from his nagging hamstring.
The veteran might just make his third appearance and arguably his
biggest in recent years. Sol has already managed two appearances for
the Gunners ever since abandoning his contract at Notts County and
re-signing for Arsenal in January. He played all 90 minutes against
Stoke City in the FA Cup defeat at the Britannia and coming in as a
substitute for Thomas Vermaelen in the 0-0 Epl draw at Villa Park.
The manager believes in the veteran's ability and might give him an
opportunity to prove he's worth the recall.
"It's a possibility that I don't rule out at the moment because if he
(Campbell) doesn't play there it would mean you play with two
left-footed players (Vermaelen and Sylvestre) that I don't really
like.
"It would mean he can show his signing was worth doing and he can help
us in going through to the last eight."
He maintained before the team departed for Porto yesterday.
The Squad:
Lucasz Fabianski
Vito Mannone
Nicklas Bendtner
Carlos Vela
Theo Walcott
Samir Nasri
Denilson Neves
Aaron Ramsey
Tomas Rosicky
Abou Diaby
Cesc Fabregas
Gael Clichy
Thomas Vermaelen
Emmanuel Eboue
Mikael Sylvestre
Sol Campbell
Armand Traore
Bacary Sagna
Speculation is still rife about the future of our Captain Francesc Fabregas.
as media reports continue to claim the eccentric midfielder is set for
a Camp Nou comeback.
Arshavin has spoken out on the rumours, but he didn't dispel them.
Which indirectly means there might be an iota of truth in them.
"If he goes to Barcelona, I will understand his choice. But as an
Arsenal player, I really don't want this to happen," Arshavin
enthused.
"I remember when there were rumours of his departure last summer, I
told him half-jokingly, half seriously: "Stay at least a year or two,
I want to play with you."
"We joke about this topic again now. But Cesc is a grown man and only
he can decide."
