Igor Akinfeev and Arsenal move

Well, a lot of reports on Arsenal's pursuit of the impressive Russian shot-stopper seem to have contradicted themselves, as confirmations of his stay at CSKA Moscow pour in.

It's pretty obvious that not even Andrey Arshavin's pep talk nor the bargaining prowess of Arséne Wenger could lure the goalkeeper to North London, at least not this season. The 24-year-old has opted to stay in Russia, where he's literally worshipped by the club's faithful.

The trail is cold it seems. Something like right man, right club, but wrong timing, hopefully another overzealous reporter won't dig this up in a bid to unsettle our fragile goalies.

I really like that goalkeeper. I pray something chops into the head of Wenger before it is too later that we need a good goal keeper, now more than ever!

We were never interested in buying him anyway. Arsene has only looked at older keepers like Schwarzer who wouldn't block the progress of Szczesny, who will be our #1 in a couple of years. We're going to be stuck with Almunia this season, or worse, Fabianski...
