Phillipe Mexes to Arsenal? Not now says Montali

The 28-year-old Giallorossi stopper is currently on the radar of Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan.

With Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, under pressure to shore up his defense it is only natural for the club to be linked with a host of names, which brings us to the case of Philippe Mexes - Wenger is rumoured to be ready to part with £10m for the experienced defender if his club decides to do business.

The French star faces an uncertain future at the Italian club as the duo of Juan and Nicolas Burdisso have combined well last season to cement their place in Roma's starting line-up.
The possibility of his participation being peripheral next season is very real considering the fact that Roma have stated their desire to sign Burdisso permanently from Inter Milan.

Despite the glaring truth that his services might not be needed at the Stadio Olimpico next season, general coordinator of Roma Giampaolo Montali has issued a statement concerning the future of the centre-back.

He said: "Mexes? He is part of Roma's heritage and we have no intention of selling him to any club."
