Owen Coyle: Bolton can shock Chelsea

Bolton's manager Owen Coyle believes his present crop of players have
what it takes to deliver a killer-punch to the blues title ambition.

The gaffer implored his team to take heart from Portmouth's FA Cup
semi-final win over Tottenham on Sunday by giving a whole-hearted
performance today at Stamford Bridge: "Nobody gave Portmouth a chance
yesterday after what they had been through, but that is always an
opportunity to go and produce a result and that is what we will look
to do," the former Burnley boss declared.

"We need to work our socks off for each other and show quality on the
ball when we get it.
There is no doubt that this is the toughest game that you can pick.
Chelsea are in great form and are the Champions elect in many people's
eyes and with Manchester United drawing yesterday (Sunday) that has
handed them another incentive."

The title race has taken a new twist all thanks to Big Sam and his
Blackburn warriors, hopefully Coyle's team will hand us another life-line by
derailing Chelsea's progress today.
The Bolton boss believes it is an advantage to be labelled an underdog
and charged his lads to be spurred by that fact: "But the nature of
football is that when you are at your best you can win any given game,
and that is how we will treat it. We recognise that we are playing
against a top quality team with world-class players but these are the
type of games you want to enter into.

"People forget that seven games we were in the bottom three but we
played very well and won games and by doing that we took ourselves
away from that dangerous position."

Coyle concluded by saying: "Our short term aim is to make sure that we
stay in the Premier League and that is what we intend to do.
We've got five games to go and we will do everything we can to get the
points that make us safe because it is in our hands."

Coyle - Wilshere's transformation is complete

Owen Coyle is adamant he has added the finishing touches necessary for
the graduation of Jack Wilshere into the Gunners first team.

Jack Wilshere who joined Bolton on loan from Arsenal, to gain
experience by playing regular football, could just be the pioneer of Arsene
Wenger's upcoming generation of young and talented players, if Coyle's
words are to be taken into full consideration.
The former Burnley and currently Bolton manager believes Jack's
performance for Bolton is simply outta this World and admits the
youngster has finally overcome obscurity, and he's happy that Wilshere
didn't pass through the system at Bolton, rather he allowed the system
to pass through him which should ensure his eligibility to stand-up and
be counted when it matters at Arsenal.
The gaffer said he's glad that Jack has learned this much and
attributed it to the player's wisdom and patience.

"I think he has the ability to play in their team. That is easy for me
to say, but I also think Arsene Wenger believes that or he wouldn't
have let him come here.

"Arsene did the same with Nicklas Bendtner, he wants his young players
to go and test themselves at the highest level.
They can go back as bona fide first-team players," Coyle enthused.
"Playing games is the best thing for anyone's development.

"Jack is playing against the best players around and showing he is
mature beyond his years. He is so clever on the ball and desperate to
do well.

"I am happy to furnish him with that opportunity. He will go back to
Arsenal as a better player," Coyle concluded.

Owen Coyle also expressed frustration at his inability to sign James
Mccarthy, when he was still running the show at Burnley and believes
the younster shares a lot of similarities with Jack Wilshere, and
blamed the youngster's price tag for his failure in his bid to capture
him.

"I made an offer for James but he was out of our price range.

"Wigan have to be congratulated for helping him come on. I saw him get
rag-dolled on his debut but he has come back stronger and looks
built-up.

"I have known him since he was 16 and coming from where he does in
Glasgow he is going to have real passion - I love that type of
player."
