As Roma join Given chase

Last season's Serie A runners-up As Roma, are keen to capitalise on Manchester City's reluctance to sell Shay Given to any of their title rivals.

Arsenal/Celtic were and are still linked with the Ireland international, but it's pretty certain Given won't join another Epl side - especially Arsenal. Lucky for AS Roma they've got enough funds to spare, and they can count on their splendid relationship with City to speed things up.

The Italian outfit is willing to pay the right price for his services. Some sources believe there is an iota of truth in this report, which is currently being peddled by several tabloid classification outlets in Italy.

It's obvious Roma prefer the 34-year-old Given to Alexander Doni, who has being deputising for the injured Julio Sergio Bertagnoli.

Given's contract at The Eastlands will officially run out by 2013.
