Reports in Spain claim the club's president Manuel Llorente, intends to negotiate with Arsenal in the coming days for the €23m rated midfielder. A necessary condition for Mata's arrival at Arsenal will hinge on the suitor's ability to match or surpass his current valuation, which is in excess of €20m. And probably his willlingness to leave Spain.
The last couple of years have been difficult on the pitch for Valencia, but equally rewarding financially. As the club looks set to lose another player in the mold of Barcelona's David Villa and Manchester City's David Sylva, to Arsenal for another handsome reward. Llorente and Braulio Vazquez hope to tie the 20-year-old Canales to a season long loan (extendable to another year), with an option to buyout his Madrid contract for €12m.

The team needs coaching(in terms of defending) more than a new player. AW may see the need to add ONE CB. And I trust his judgement as to which one he believes will fit the team.
