Bordeaux's Michael Ciani (€14.4m) is Arsenal's back up plan

According to L'equipe Arsenal's manager Arséne wenger is set to tempt the resilience of Bordeaux's Jean Tigana.

The tactician promised some months ago to retain the squad he inherited from Laurent Blanc, when he took over the reins of power. However, depending on the outcome of Arsenal's involvement with Seville's Sebastien Squillaci, Tigana might be singing a new tune soon.

The report believes Arsenal will try to sign Michael Ciani (26), if they fail to snatch the 30-year-old Squillaci.

The center-back's contract with the Hailan outfit runs until 2013, which means The Gunners must be prepared to bid outrightly for his services.

This sounds jittery, but can Arsenal afford a €14.4m defender given the prudent manner in which we delegate our scarce resources?

ciani would be a great signing but so would squillari, i cant see why wenger doesn't go for both. we got rid of campbell, gallas, silvestre and senderos so surely we need 2 more defensive signings, i also think with frimpong being out for a whole season that we need a defensive midfielder like senna, gattuso, de jong and a goalkeeper like steklenberg, given or marchetti. please dont sign schwarzer.
ciani is a great defender go for him ,how mr wenger want to win trophy without sign a real players like him
I appreciate the above two suggestion i am also in favor of both just accept them..........
