Arsene Wenger set to bid for Mesut Ozil?

Although on paper a tangible deal seems highly unlikely, but that's what consistency can do to an upcoming youngster with a larger than life personality as Werder Bremen's playmaker Mesut Ozil.

As usual, some people in 'the know' believe or expect Arsene Wenger to snap the German attacking midfielder, whose services might not be needed at the Emirates next season, especially if the Gunners succeed in their much anticipated transfer plot to lure out of contract and former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole across London. Rule out a potential Barcelona swoop for Cesc Fabregas, because he is staying put at Arsenal this summer period!.

The Daily Star Sunday says Arsene Wenger is currently weighing the benefits of launching an audacious £12m bid for the 21-year-old, who showed traces of his often touted brilliance against Australia yesterday in a match they won by a respectable margin of four goals to nil.

He is arguably one of the brightest youth prospects at the 2010 World Cup, and he didn't fail to live up to his hefty valuation throughout the duration of his participation for the German side, contributing immensely to their opening game rout of soccer minnow Australia.

Personally, I think Ozil, will be surplus to requirements at Arsenal except an unlikely summer exodus of some of the club's midfielders gathers enough momentum to trouble the thinking faculty of the club's hierarchy.
