Deportivo officially pull out of Carlos Vela race

Fans of the 21-year-old attacker can now heave a sigh of relief as Deportivo La Coruna officially pull out of race to sign Arsenal' promising striker Carlos Vela.

The youngster alongside fellow countryman Giovani Dos Santos who are currently on international duty for Mexico at the Fifa 2010 World Cup in South Africa, were heavily linked with a switch abroad, but their situation is clearer now, as Deportiva's coach, Miguel Angel Lotina, confirms he won't be signing the pair as earlier anticipated.

The gaffer was thought to be keen on the duo, who currently ply their trade in London for Arsenal and Tottenham respectively. Although he initially admitted his interest in bringing the youngsters to the Estadio de Riazor. The good news is he recently made a swift u-turn claiming the pursuit has been called off:
"The names were put on the table (as possible signings)," he explained in an interview with the club's official newspaper.
"But they won't be coming," he concluded.

I hope to see the dimunitive whiz kid dazzle again for the Arsenal, whom he's spent a quarter of his life serving.
