Arsenal target Viviano, but Fiorentina might win the race

Arsenal are set to compete with Fiorentina for Bologna's shot-stopper Emiliano Viviano, although the Florence outfit might scupper the deal.

With the fans planning to show their discontentment in the form of a protest, Arsene Wenger might be forced to jettison his transfer protocol in favour of our disgruntled supporters sooner or later.

In a bid to proffer solutions to our defensive problems the Media has continually linked us with a host of names - mainly defenders and goalkeepers.

Today's case is no exception, According to this morning's edition of TuttosportArsenal are tracking the 24-year-old shot-stopper whose playing contract is co-owned by Inter Milan after leaving the San Siro last summer.

Although, the report stated in unequivocal terms that Fiorentina are the clear favourites to snap the keeper, and his agent Renzo Contratto confirmed earlier that his client would jump at the opportunity if it's presented by the Italian outfit.

"Emilio would quickly go to Florence if asked," he told Radio Toscana.

"He even called his daughter Viola (the colors of Fiorentina).
But at the moment, he is co-owned by Bologna and Inter, and with Fiorentina there is absolutely no contact with them."
