Moyes On Arteta's Arsenal Switch: 'I Couldn't Offer Him Champions League Football'

Mikel Arteta has signed for Arsenal Football Club from Everton Football Club after a £10 million deal was agreed in stoppage time during yesterday's frantic transfer deadline.

According to David Moyes, the 29-year-old playmaker left Goodison Park in pursuit of greener pastures across England. He blamed his inability to provide the Spaniard with Champions League football, and believes Arsene Wenger has struck a bargain he won't regret.

The Blues Boss told Evertonfc.com in unequivocal terms of his disappointment with the last ditch move, but above all, he wishes his former playmaker all the best in his endeavours with Arsenal at The Emirates: “Mikel indicated to me that he wished to join Arsenal if a bid came in. I am very disappointed to lose him but the prospect of Champions League football was something I wasn’t able to offer him.”
