Wolfsburg Set €15m For Simon Kjaer - As Clubs Jostle For Blaise Matuidi

According to reports in Germany and France, Wolfsburg are prepared to part company with their highly coveted defender Simon Kjaer, who is contracted to the club until 2014 for a mouth watering fee of €15m. While Ligue1 club Saint Etienne, are also keen on recieving the same amount for their defensive midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

From Bundesliga champions to relegation survivors - Wolfsburg, according to reports in Germany have indicated their willingness to offload some of their established stars for the right price, in a bid to cut their losses, and invariably build on their awful performance last season by investing the cash generated from the sales on new intakes.

The club has warned As Roma, and other potential suitors that it will not entertain bids of less than €15m for the services of their 22-year-old Denmark international, who sources claim is currently searching for greener pastures abroad. There are a lot of conflicting reports as to the highly rated center back's preferred destination.

Reports in Italy have positioned Roma as favourites to land the former Palermo defender, while BILD in Germany have opined that Kjaer, will embrace a move to the English Premier League. However, it is pretty obvious that the lure of regular Champions League action, and a better pay package could make the difference as to where, he will finally settle.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Chelsea have reportedly made official enquiries for the services of 24-year-old France international Blaise Matuidi, in a bid to derail the intentions of Arsenal, Fiorentina and PSG who were all believed to be the front-runners in a virtual race to sign the impressive player.

Saint Etienne have refused to hide their intentions of cashing-in on the defense minded midfielder, whose value the last time I checked is between the region of €13-15m.
