Taylor is an option as Arsenal reject Gallas

The 32-year-old centre-back's hopes of negotiating a lucrative two-year deal that will make him one of the highest paid players in the club has met a brickwall as the Gunners look set to consider the numerous options available to them.

According to this report Steven Taylor's agent is on red alert as he prepares to find a new destination for his client, who was recently involved in a bust-up with fellow teammate Andy Carroll.

The Gunners as well as, Chelsea and Everton, have being keeping tabs on the impressive toon defender, although no concrete offer has been made yet.

Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday that he is on the lookout for an experienced defender, as he blamed his leaky defence for our end of season blues.
Arsene said a title-chasing team can't afford to concede 41 goals in 38 League matches.

"If you divide the season into two - going forward we have done very well but defensively we have been average.

"When you concede 40 goals you don't win the Championship and I want to rectify that.

"My transfer policy this summer will be to keep our strengths going forward, add one player, and add more defensive strength to our team."

Meanwhile, Arsenal have rejected William Gallas's hefty wage demand.
The player is currently in talks with the club over an unlikely extension to his contract which officially ends in the summer.

Although, Arsene Wenger made it clear earlier that he was ready to alter the club's stingy policy of offering only one-year deals to players above 30-years in order to retain his services, but Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-wood won't hear any of that.

He indirectly told Willie to sign for PSG now, by cleverly stating that he would only be prepared to extend Gallas's deal by a further year: "His demands are quite extravagant and I don't think we are prepared to go along with it," Hill-wood told the Daily Star.

"We would very much like him to stay, but I think for one year, and not on the money he wants. He is a good player, but you've got to draw the line somewhere.

"If he can get the money somewhere else, good luck to him. We still hope he will sign, but if he doesn't. It is not that we are being bloody-minded for the hell of it.
We have got to look forward and the cost of players isn't just in transfers, it is in the salaries as well. And we analyse this quite carefully, because we don't want to go bankrupt."

Its a good deal to sign an experienced defender but, on my side, I still feel that, if at all any one could convince, wenger to eye for one and only Pedro .R of Barcelona then, he would automatically have everything in his basket. He is a dream player and he is a type of player whom I believe can easily compet at the FIFA world player if at all he joins arsenal. There moments in a game when you need an exceptional player like him. A type of player with talent, urge, so ambitious, a quick thinker yet, with a flowing mind.

We've seen Wenger competing favourably with Henry at his time, and we've seen Fergie winning trouphies with Ronaldo, Baryan with Ajan Roben, Inter with Sneijder. Its much easier to compet in a race when you have an exceptional player and good enough, Pedro is still young. Though, my worry is that, it will reach a time when it will be too hard to sign him out of Barca, so the time is now. Believe me or not Barca can let him go if at all arsenal is giving them Carlos vera, or Eduardo or both with some money. And if at all Wenger fails to secure such a deal then in the end he would have countered Barca off, against Fabregas.

I would like to see such a team with chamakh, and may be persie, with pedro on one wing, fab or ramsey in the center, with may be Rosciky or Walcot or Arshavin on the other wing. And good enough, wenger can make him play the free role like you see messi playing in Barca. The squad woud have expanded and wenger would have a great number of players to choose from. This will stimulate competition among players to appear on the first 11. Injury worries would be no more and you will find players like Bendter working hard to the surprise of each and everyone, like for the seck of Higuan in Real madrid. I think that would be a dream team that would fulfill wengers desires in a short time. He has desires but he is only less by one player and that is Pedro. May be he has not watched him critically.

Next season I know we shall make it, cause other players like Eastmond have been promising this season and thanks to Wenger. Once he adds a star player to his squard after chamakh, then the rest will be to the opponents cause I do not know how they could ever handle such a young team of class. The rest he can sign from the premiership, though with the goal keeper he has to rethink about it and I wish he encourages his young talents to continue training as the world cup goes on in S.A cause next season isn't far and they have to compet inorder to appear even on the arsenal bench. Next season we have to launch a 3 cup (trophy) campaign.
