Wolfsburg deny interest in Arsenal target

Following Arsene Wenger's declaration some days ago, that he needed to strengthen his team ahead of next season.

The Guardian quickly posited that Wenger, might be tempted to lure Real Madrid's centre back Metzelder, to the Emirates instead of bidding for Fulham's Brede Hangeland who is valued at £10m.

Recently there have been numerous reports linking the 29-year-old defender, whose contract with Real Madrid expires this summer, to Panathinaikos, and Wolfsburg.
But the latter's general manager Dieter Hoeness, is upset by the stories: "This is just rubbish, there is nothing true in these rumours," Hoeness said.
"I am asking myself how certain news can be edited..." he added.

Well, I don't like the idea of gunning for old players (29), but I sincerely hope we can shake off competition for the veteran's signature, whose arrival might signal the end of Sylvestre's error-prone career at Arsenal.

Madrid's midfielder Guti eyes Premier League

José Maria Gutiérrez Hernandez has finally admitted that he's fed up
with life at the Bernabeu and he plans to vent his frustration on the
club by moving to the Barclays Premier League next summer.

The eccentric midfielder is capable of doing and undoing things at
will [unlocking a tightly knitted defense is like child's play to him
and the 33-year-old is also capable of spreading disunity amongst an
entire team].
The influential playmaker has won it all; trophies and accolades too
numerous to mention, but his character as a footballer is very
unpredictable.

We've seen Wenger re-sign his prodigal son [Sol Campbell]. So I won't
be surprised if we take advantage of the present situation to snap a
midfielder who is seasoned, versatile, and most importantly the guy's
playing days are far from over.

Guti told Onda Madrid radio: "My future is unsure. It will surely be
my last El Classico [tomorrow against Barcelona]. As it stands there
is no possibility of staying. I have a year left [contract] but we
hope to reach an agreement.

"I am sure they understand, my only option is to leave," he said. The
midfielder concluded by saying he would consider a move next season to
"England, Italy or the Arab countries" where he believes his talent
will be better appreciated.

Zinedine Zidane eyes Arsenal target Eden Hazard

The 19-year-old midfielder who is currently donning the colors of
Ligue1 side Losc Lille Métropole, has been the subject of debate
amongst football pundits.

I must admit that it isn't surreal to hear France Legend Zinedine
Zidane shower encomia on the potential Arsenal transfer target.
The Euro and World Cup winner told Madrid based paper Marca, that he
was prepared to do anything within his power as the special advisor to
Real Madrid president Fiorentina Perez, to ensure Premier League
target Eden Hazard plays in the Santiago Bernabeu for the Galacticos:
"I would sign him for Real Madrid in a heart beat," Zidane asserted.
"Hazard is a future superstar, He's already a very good plaxer and
He'll even get better," He enthused.

The Belgian who has scored five times and created seven assists that
have in no small way contributed to Lille's steady progress in Ligue1,
recently extended his contract at the club until 2014. Though the midfielder
admitted that he was astonished at the number of inquiries he
was receiving. But the 19-year-old maintained that he loved Lille and would only
consider a move away from the French club in the future, or if the
club is willing to part with him.

Wenger: Real fans value stupendous signings above silverware

Arsenal's charismatic coach Arsene Wenger has asserted that he
despises Real Madrid's method of bringing in new players to assuage
their fans anticipation of silverware.

The gaffer expressed dismay at the obvious fact that their fans value
high-profile signings to trophies and he believes that is the drawback
for Real Madrid's continental exploits.
He maintained that that he won't give in to expectations from fans who
expect him to spend frivolously on big names, because he's confident
that his present crop of players are capable of delivering the overdue
goods.

Arsene said: "It's success for Real when they buy a big-name player,
in that it diminishes the level of worry for the fans.

"But it will never wipe out the unpredictability of the sport. I find
it strange when fans view new signings above trophies."

The boss admitted that bolstering certain departments of a squad was
inevitable for the survival of any club, but he's certain that it can
not guarantee success in any way.

"But we are under pressure to do it as well because of the transfer
window. Why? Because basically it's reassuring.

"But it's a team sport and things are never predictable. Real Madrid,
for example, have gone out in the last 16 of the Champions League for
six consecutive years. It's fragile," he concluded.
